Our Mission
The Coalition for ICANN Transparency ("CFIT") is a Delaware non-profit corporation dedicated to fighting for the rights of .COM and .NET domain name registrants and secondary market participants. Since 2005, CFIT has been the principal litigant in the civil action Coalition for ICANN Transparency v. Verisign Inc., filed and now pending in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
In this action, CFIT has challenged on antitrust grounds both Verisign's pricing of domain names and Verisign's threat to usurp the vibrant secondary market for the sale of expiring domain names as a sole source supplier. CFIT's theories of liability were expressly approved by the United States Court of Appeals in a July, 2010 opinion (available for download here).
